Spa Hotel Therapist — SHT
Deliver professional massage treatments within Golden Tree’s hotel and spa operations in Vienna. The appointment requires substantial formal training, documented treatment experience and additional Deep Tissue qualifications. Full-time and part-time positions are available, with paid internal qualification towards BC Therapist certification following successful selection and entry into the company.
The Spa Hotel Therapist delivers treatments within Golden Tree’s approved service offering and the scope of their verified professional qualifications. The role combines technical competence with careful preparation, sound judgement and attentive care for international hotel and spa guests.
Before each treatment, you establish the relevant guest requirements, review information affecting suitability and identify contraindications. Treatment decisions must remain within your professional competence and the protocols applicable to the location. Where suitability is uncertain, the matter must be clarified before proceeding.
You prepare the treatment room, equipment and products, maintain the required hygiene standards and deliver the booked treatment with attention to technique, timing and guest comfort. Communication should help the guest understand the treatment and express any concern or preference without feeling hurried.
You coordinate with the Spa Experience Coordinator regarding appointments, room availability, delays and information relevant to the service. Any treatment concern or incident requiring further attention must be communicated and documented appropriately.
The appointment requires consistent professional conduct throughout the visit, including preparation, treatment delivery and the return of the room to a condition suitable for the next guest.
Entry requirements follow The Golden Tree Standards 2025/8 and the supplementary provisions of Standards 2024/6 — Abu Dhabi Conference. Applicants must meet the external qualification and practical-experience requirements before entering the company’s internal qualification programme.
A completed massage or therapeutic foundation qualification comprising at least 800 training hours is required. The curriculum must include:
- Classical massage.
- Manual lymphatic drainage.
- Connective-tissue and segmental massage.
- Foot reflexology.
- Anatomy.
- Physiology.
- Pathology.
- Hygiene.
- First aid.
Applicants must also demonstrate at least two years of practical professional experience as a massage therapist and a minimum of 1,860 documented practical massage hours. The record must substantiate experience in Swedish Massage and Deep Tissue Massage and include at least 180 practical hours of full-body or partial-body lymphatic drainage.
Practical experience must have been acquired in a professional treatment environment and be supported by records that allow its nature and extent to be verified.
In addition to the foundation qualification, a separate Deep Tissue Massage course comprising at least 38 training hours is required.
Applications should include qualification certificates, relevant course-hour information and evidence of practical experience. A short introductory massage course alone does not meet the admission requirements. The paid internal training provided after joining supplements the external qualifications required for entry.
The role involves direct care of international hotel guests, spa visitors and members. Applicants must be able to explain a treatment clearly, understand guest preferences and communicate accurately with colleagues.
The standard language requirements, expressed using the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, are:
- English at B2 or above.
- German at B1 or above.
- At least one additional language at B2 or above.
Depending on the assignment and the language requirements of the location, the additional language may need to be at C1 where neither English nor German is held at C1 or above.
Professional competence includes the reliable application of the location’s treatment, hygiene, service and quality protocols. You must be able to recognise and take appropriate account of contraindications, maintain hygienic working conditions and protect the confidentiality of guest information.
Treatment recommendations must remain within your verified competence. Guests should receive accurate explanations, with appropriate attention to consent, comfort and professional boundaries.
The expected standard is consistent across the working day. Punctuality, preparation, careful treatment delivery and cooperation with the coordinating team are assessed alongside technical ability.
Selection takes place in several stages, beginning with a review of qualifications and documented experience. The usual processing period may extend to three months.
Applicants who pass the initial review are invited to a personal interview. Depending on the position and location, further selection may include an assessment centre and a two-day technical and practical competency assessment.
Following successful selection and entry into the company, therapists undertake paid internal education and certification towards BC Therapist status under The Golden Tree Standards. The full internal qualification phase usually takes approximately six to eight months. Subsequent deployment is determined by qualification, assessment results, location requirements and available positions.
The advertised reference salary is €2,220 gross per month, paid 14 times per year. Full-time and part-time arrangements are possible, with contracted hours and the corresponding remuneration specified in the employment offer. Subsequent salary adjustments follow the applicable collective agreement.
All cash tips given to you for treatments you personally provide may be retained in full.
The public classification supplied for this appointment is GE/I, identifying a general job category open to external and internal applicants.
Applications should include a CV, qualification certificates and evidence of the required practical treatment hours, and may be submitted to hr.vienna@goldentree.international.
